A day I'll never forget, that changed my life and the lives of those around me forever. There hasn't been much progress to speak of over the past seven years. In light of that, the only appropriate message is to be found in the words of the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission:"To those who lost their lives, we promise never to forget. To those who survived, we promise never to forget. To those who bore witness, we promise never to forget. To the next generation, we must never forget."

I'm extremely proud to share that as of a couple of hours ago, I have completed the 150km Stride for Palestinians challenge for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)! I'm humbled in equal measure to share that, thanks to your kindness and generosity, I've surpassed my fundraising target by over £200! From the bottom of my heart, a huge thank you to everyone who has donated and/or shared my fundraising page, your support means the world. If you were one of my anonymous donors, please know that I'll be dedicating myself to the mystery of finding out who you were! I plan to keep walking, cycling and running until the challenge officially ends on 15th June. So, if you are able and would like to make a contribution, my fundraising page is still open and every donation still makes a huge difference. Thank you!!

92/150km complete and I've now (virtually) made it to the Palestinian Circus School in Birzeit! The Palestinian Circus School is a partner project of Medical Aid for Palestinians, and uses circus art to empower Palestinian children with learning disabilities and advance their confidence and participation in public life. You can see the kind of life-changing services the school has provided for one child, Mohamad, in the video below, and if you would like to donate to support MAP and PCS in providing these services, this is the link to my fundraising page, I would be most grateful! https://lnkd.in/eVm3iD2C

Having completed almost 40km of the virtual Stride for Palestinians route, I've now walked the distance from Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Beirut to Ein el Hilweh refugee camp in Saida, Lebanon. As a health policy professional, I was interested to learn that Medical Aid for Palestinians operate their Maternal and Child Health Project in Ein el Hilweh. Women and children's health is a major cause for concern for Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, with rates of maternal and child mortality and morbidity remaining high. MAP's team of community midwives provide the only home-visiting midwifery service in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, of which Ein el Hilweh is the largest. The 0.321sq km camp was established in 1948 to host refugees, mostly from coastal Palestinian towns. It is walled in, with access to people and building materials controlled by the Lebanese Armed Forces. This is just the first stop on the route to Rafah, and I'm still only 62% of the way to my funding goal of £500, so if you are able and would like to consider donating, the link to do so is below. I would be hugely grateful. As before, all proceeds go directly to Medical Aid for Palestinians to purchase medicines, medical supplies and other lifesaving aid for people in Gaza, the West Bank and Palestinian refugee camps in neighbouring Lebanon and Jordan.

Very happy to share that as of today, which also happens to be my birthday(!), I’m over halfway to my fundraising goal for the Stride for Palestinians challenge in aid of MAP! A huge thank you to everyone who’s donated and shared for their generosity, I’m extremely appreciative! If you are able and would like to donate (especially since it’s my birthday, don’t know if I’ve mentioned?!), the challenge begins in two days’ time and all of the proceeds will go directly to Medical Aid for Palestinians to buy medicines, medical supplies and other lifesaving aid. Link below, thank you so much!https://lnkd.in/eND6e7Xu

LinkedIn friends! I wanted to share that starting on 15th May, I'll be taking part in the Stride for Palestinians challenge, in aid of Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). Over the course of 31 days, I'll be walking, cycling and running a total of 150km along a virtual route that starts in the Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon and ends in Rafah, Gaza. (I'll actually be covering that distance in real life, nothing virtual about that). I've pledged to raise £500 for MAP towards the cost of medicines, medical supplies and other lifesaving aid, and am coming here to ask anyone who is able to to please consider donating to this important cause. I completely recognise that times are tough, and would be extremely grateful for any contributions - even if that's just to spread the word! You'll be able to track my progress via the map on my fundraising page, and I'll be providing updates and information about various stops along the route, including Jerusalem, Al Khalil, Beit Lahia and Khan Younis. If you'd like more information on what MAP does, what your donations will buy, or have any other questions, please feel free to drop me a message! Thank you!
